From the words of the Prophet ﷺ
“If there is any healing in your medicines, then it is in cupping, a gulp of honey, or branding with fire that suits the ailment — but I do not like to be cauterised.”

The practice
Hijama — from the Arabic ḥajm, “to draw out” — is the prophetic practice of wet cupping: sterile cups create gentle suction on the skin, and a small quantity of surface blood is drawn through light, superficial incisions.
It was performed upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself, recommended in numerous authentic narrations, and has been practised across the Muslim world for over fourteen centuries. Today it is sought for muscular recovery, tension and stiffness, deep relaxation — and for the reward of reviving a sunnah.
إِنَّ أَمْثَلَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ
“The best medicines you may treat yourselves with are cupping and sea incense.”
Every session is built from the techniques below — combined and tailored to what your body needs on the day.
The prophetic practice itself. Suction followed by light, superficial incisions to draw a small amount of surface blood — with sterile, single-use cups and blades throughout.
Cups create a firm vacuum over the muscle with no incisions — used to ease stiffness and soreness, and to prepare the body before hijama.
A brief flame creates the vacuum inside a glass cup before it meets the skin — a deeply warming, traditional form of dry cupping.
Oiled cups glide across the muscle under suction — a moving, massage-like technique that covers larger areas of tension.
Focused manual work and percussive therapy to release tight tissue — reserved for our longest session, before the cups are placed.

Hijama is calm, unhurried and far gentler than most people expect. Here's how a session unfolds.
Avoid food for two to three hours beforehand, drink plenty of water through the day, and come in loose, comfortable clothing.
A short consultation about how you're feeling, any medication or conditions, and which areas need attention — so the session is built around you.
Dry or dynamic cupping warms and releases the tissue, then hijama is performed at the chosen points using sterile, single-use equipment throughout.
The areas are cleaned and covered, and you leave with simple aftercare guidance — rest, hydrate, eat light, and take it easy for the day.
Far less than people imagine. The incisions are light and superficial — most clients describe a mild scratching sensation, and many find the suction itself deeply relaxing. The circular marks left by the cups are painless and typically fade within a few days to two weeks.
Keep it simple: avoid eating for around two to three hours before your appointment, stay well hydrated during the day, and wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the treatment areas. If you can, arrive in a state of wudhu — hijama is an act of reviving a sunnah, after all.
Keep the treated areas clean, dry and covered for the first day. Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming and very hot showers for around 24 hours, eat light and easily digested food, and rest well. We talk you through everything before you leave.
Most healthy adults can receive hijama comfortably. If you are pregnant, taking blood-thinning medication, diabetic, anaemic, or have a skin, heart or bleeding condition, please speak to your GP before booking and let us know in your message — we always put your safety first, even if that means advising against a session.
